Straven Dairy is located on the south side of the Rangitata River and was purchased in 2013, initially developed as a dairy support block before being converted to dairy in 2014.

The farm is fully irrigated using water from the Rangitata South Irrigation Scheme, with in-shed feeding, Protrack and cow collars, and includes an adjoining block used by the wider dairy support team.  In late 2026 Straven will be the first of our farms to have solar panels installed on the dairy and calf sheds. This is the start of a longer-term plan to increase our investment in solar electricity to reduce costs and increase resiliency.

Straven is contract milked by Nathan and Tracey, who joined Pye Group in 2024 after many years contract milking in the local area. They are great mentors who place a strong emphasis on pastoral care, genuinely looking after their people and creating a supportive environment where team members can learn, develop and succeed.
